People give to organizations to make a difference in the lives of others. This year more than 160 local and area residents and businesses were recognized for making a difference in the local health of this community during the annual Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation Inner Circle Recognition Banquet.
During the April 28th event at Sarah Bush Lincoln, top donors over the past year, and those making major gifts or pledges to the Funding the Future Campaign were honored. The Funding the Future campaign successfully raised $8 million to help fund the Health Center’s master facility plan, a three-year plan to renovate and expand the Emergency Room, Surgery Suites, and Laboratory, and create private rooms for patients on the Adult Care Unit. It also raised funds for Healthy Kids activities with the goal of reducing the obesity rate and increasing the activity level in children.
Also during the Inner Circle event, 32 donors were inducted onto the Foundation’s Donor Wall, signifying one-time or cumulative major gifts to Sarah Bush Lincoln. Those recognized were:

The Soaring Eagle Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Health Foundation recognizing the giving of time, talent or treasure. This year, the award was presented posthumously to Betty Lou Fisher and her brother, Frank Fisher, who left their estate valued at $3.2 million, to Sarah Bush Lincoln. Their large estate consisted of cash assets of $500,000 and a 300-acre farm, which will produce about $60,000 to $80,000 annually for the Health Center.
