Sarah Bush Lincoln invites the community to interact with a da Vinci Robot that will soon be used in some surgical procedures at the Health Center.
A reception will be held from 7 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, August 9, in the main lobby at Entrance A. Incoming SBL President & CEO Kim Uphoff, surgeon Todd Bierman, MD, and Obstetrician-Gynecologist Scott Meyer, MD, will provide a brief introduction to the robot and answer questions. People are invited to stop by and interact with it.

Robotic surgery has many advantages for appropriate patients, including smaller incisions and reduced recovery times. When recommended by your surgeon, the da Vinci surgical system can be used for these procedures: colorectal (colon resection, colorectal surgery), general surgery (hernia repair, gallbladder surgery), gynecology (hysterectomy for endometriosis, cancer, fibroid resection, and ovarian cystectomy), thoracic (lung resection for cancer), and urology (kidney surgery/nephrectomy and prostatectomy for cancer).
Other physicians planning to use the new equipment include OB-GYNs Mel Fleming, Jeff Galvan, MD, and Ashton Ballinger, MD, who is joining SBL Women’s Healthcare in September.
