Washington Savings Bank has donated $10,000 to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation’s Campaign: The most important home you’ll ever build. The campaign supports construction of the new Hospice House to be built on the main campus of Sarah Bush Lincoln as well as an Endowment to help those who are unable to pay for their stay.
“Each year, Washington Savings Bank hosts fundraisers which help those served on our mobile mammography unit and patients served in our Heart Center,” said Amy Card, SBL Foundation director. “The Bank continues to make an impact on our community with this most recent, very generous gift to the hospice house endowment. What a wonderful donation that will help provide a special place for families to say goodbye to their loved ones. We’re so grateful for their continued generosity.”
Earnings from the Hospice House endowment will help those who can’t afford the stay in the hospice house. Insurance companies pay for nursing care in a hospice house, but most do not for pay room and board. This endowment will alleviate financial strain on families.
“When we heard that Sarah Bush Lincoln would be building a hospice house, there was no question that we wanted to support it,” said Jon Spitz, Executive Vice President of Washington Savings Bank. “Our mission is much like Sarah Bush Lincoln’s in that we want to provide outstanding service for our customers. This is why we chose to donate to the endowment, to do our part in helping our community members at a difficult time in their lives.”
