The Tuscola Kiwanis Club recently donated trauma dolls to Sarah Bush Lincoln for children receiving psychiatry and counseling care.

Trauma dolls are intended to help children, who have experienced serious trauma or other issues,to feel relaxed and comfortable when they receive care.

Maribeth Opperman, a member of Tuscola Kiwanis, explained that Tuscola Kiwanis contacted SBL and asked what may be needed for children, and the trauma dolls were mentioned. A group of Kiwanis members helped make the trauma dolls by cutting the material, stuffing them and sewing them together.

“This is something we enjoy doing, and everybody jumped in and helped make the trauma dolls,” Opperman said.
