The Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation set a fundraising and attendance record at the 40th annual Cheers!, an event supporting the SBL Volunteer Guild Scholarship Program.
More than $35,000 was raised at Cheers! on March 9, a record amount for the live event, which also saw record attendance at 350. SBL Special Events Officer Kim Lockart thanks the community for its outpouring of support for the scholarship program. “Affording a college education is a big undertaking for families, and the money raised from Cheers! has helped many students throughout the years,” she said. “It’s special knowing that we’re impacting the lives of future healthcare professionals.”
The SBL Volunteer Guild Scholarship Program awards financial assistance to students in SBL’s 10-county service area who are pursuing their educations in medically related fields. Since 1979, the Guild has awarded more than $840,000 to area students.
This year’s scholarship application deadline is April 15, for the 2024-2025 school year. Selection of recipients is made in early May. Scholarship applications are available online at www.sarahbush.org/volunteerservices. For more information contact Tracy Haddock, Volunteer Services director, at 217-258-4180.
